Diana's Site

Hello, my name is Diana and this is my online Curriculim Vitae.

Why is it just plain HTML and links?

Perhaps I aspire to be like one of those great minds of computer science who simply pour all of their history in a site like this. Or perhaps I had a prettier React.js site but got tired of it and haven't had time to revamp... We will never know.

Regardless, for now I need a place to house relevant documents and showcase my curriculim in chronological order, so here we are.

Enjoy!

About Me

I am a computer scientist (M.S.) with 7+ years of experience in technical, customer-facing roles. I excel at quickly becoming a subject matter expert and translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. I’m passionate about championing customer empathy and leveraging technology to drive meaningful business outcomes. I specialize in cloud technologies, and can confidently program in JavaScipt and Python. I am also proficient in SQL and HTML. I have completed some projects using React.js and PostgreSQL. I speak Spanish and English natively, and can do some conversational French as well.

In my spare time, I love to ride my bicycle, eat delicious food, climb indoors, go to the movies, and take care of my plants.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I graduated in 2017 with a GPA of 3.36/4. Here is my unofficial transcript.

These are some assignments from my undergrad that I am proud of:

- MATH 101, Fall 2016: Mathematical Problem Solving -- Final portfolio of solved problems

- CMPS 185, Winter 2017: Technical Writing -- Image Captioning: Generation from Visual Input (poster)

2019: Certificate in Deep Learning - CIMAT

During my time living in Guanajuato I obtained a certificate (Diplomado) in Deep Learning technologies at the Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas. This was during the summer of 2019, and I enjoyed learning all the basics of Machine Learning and Neural Neworks.

2020 - 2022: M.S. in Computer Science - UIUC

I also have a Masters of Science (I am a mistress of science ;)) in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where I graduated in 2022 with a GPA of 3.75/4. Here is my unofficial transcript.

These are some assignments from my masters that I am proud of:

- CS 445, Spring 2021: Computational Photography -- Implementing Phong Shading for Blender’s Cycles Renderer

2015 - 2017: Tutoring - Various employers

- UCSC: Introduction to Computer Science (CMPS10), Introduction to Programming in Java (CMPS5J), Intermediate Programming in Java (CMPS11), Discrete Math (CMPE16): Grader and Tutor

- iDTech: JavaScript and Scratch programming: Instructor

- Pleasanton Tutoring: Math, Spanish, and Computer Science: Tutor

2017 - 2021: Technical Operations Specialist - Sojern

Managed high-priority technical escalations, working closely with engineering and product teams, ensuring fast resolution and customer satisfaction. Worked with customers to install tracking code snippets written in JavaScript into their websites. Worked with booking engines to integrate tracking codes in their systems for easier client onboarding. Ensured clear and updated documentation of every new process in Spanish and English. Developed internal tools such as Chrome extensions and web ad preview screens using React and JS. Worked closely with product and engineering teams to define internal and external product use cases.

2021 - 2023: Technical Solutions Engineer - Google Cloud Platform

Provided in-depth technical guidance on GCP storage infrastructure, working with Premium customers and specilizing in Cloud Storage, Firestore / Datastore, Bigtable, and Spanner. Understood customer scalability and reliability needs, and assisting them in architecting scalable solutions. Created an internal dashboard with TypeScript, reducing manager-level effort in monitoring active support cases. Created technical documentation to improve developer onboarding for Google Cloud Platform products. Achieved ACE certification (valid 2021-2023), demonstrating cloud proficiency.

2022 - 2024: Web Developer - La Bestia (unpaid volunteering)

1. Developed frontend of La Bestia's website using React.js to showcase all of La Bestia's product offerings. Coordinated with designers, end users, and other developers to drive the website revamp project to completion in a timely manner.

2. Developed frontend (React.js) and backend (Python / Vercel Postgres) of La Bestia's online radio station, however this site was replaced by a Wordpress version in 2024, as no one had bandwidth to maintain the React.js one. The repo for the original site can be found here (don't worry, the private keys in the repo are no longer valid as the DB no longer exists).

2023 - 2025: Technical Account Manager - Qualtrics

Served as a trusted technical advisor, helping enterprise clients optimize their use of Qualtrics products through leading initiatives to increase client usage and adoption metrics. Acted as Pod Lead for one of the sub-teams of the LAC region, leading 5 team members with consistent mentorship and check-ins to ensure their success in the role. Delivered technical presentations and proof-of-concepts on Qualtrics solutions for enterprise customers. Leveraged REST APIs and JavaScript to enhance client workflows and help develop customized solutions. Worked cross-functionally with Support, Engineering, Product, and Account teams to bring customer projects to completion and drive product improvement based on customer feedback.

2025 - present: Customer Engineer - Nice People At Work (NPAW)

I have yet to start, when I have something to write here, I will!

Interests

I am a fan of the absurd and of the seemingly "pointless", that is why I enjoy projects such as The Useless Web, the Centenial Lightbulb, Figwit Lives, and Fanaticos de los Boilers.

In general I really love traveling and getting to know new places, but the more I travel, the more I relize I will never have enough time to see everything there is to see in the world. This thought sometimes makes me sad, and sometimes motivates me. I also love riding my bicycle and I believe you can truly go anywhere with one, hence I have created this map of places you can get to on a bike, which is really just places that I like -- mostly food oriented.

Ocassionally I write poems and post them on my (private) Instagram, someday I might upload them to a public blog and share them [to do: here]. I also really enjoyed reading this online media story 17776 and its sequel 20020, probably because I am a nerd who also likes the A Dark Room game and this mathematical proof for the six-color theorem. BTW, my favorite math theorem is the 4-color Theorem because it was the first ever computer-assisted mathematical proof.

I am a cat person, so I obviously choose HTTP Cats over Dogs, but I have nothing against the latter. I also believe in Relationship Anarchy, which was introduced to me by a friend who also showed me this (unrelated) book about numbers.

I am also very intrigued by the Longplayer, as it represents a mixture of two of my favorite things: Mathematics and Music. On the music front, I have this collection in [to do: Bandcamp] and these playlists in Spotify.

I also think space is cool, and I love stepping on try leaves and hearing them crunch.
